About the Opportunity

Are you an experienced dentist interested in helping advance artificial intelligence in dentistry and oral healthcare? This remote contractor opportunity allows you to apply your clinical expertise to AI training, dental response evaluation, and evidence-based oral health content development.

As a Dental Subject Matter Expert, you will review AI-generated dental and oral-health responses, evaluate clinical reasoning, and create expert-level content. You will assess outputs for accuracy, clarity, safety, and relevance while identifying errors in diagnosis, treatment planning, radiographic interpretation, prescribing, antibiotic stewardship, and patient-care recommendations.

Your expertise will help improve how AI systems reason about dental conditions, communicate with patients, and provide clinically appropriate oral-health information.

Project availability notice: There is no immediate project assignment for this role. Qualified experts may be contacted when relevant opportunities become available and considered for future projects through the expert network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop AI training content: Create detailed prompts and gold-standard answers covering oral health, dental diagnosis, treatment planning, dental emergencies, prescribing, and patient counseling.

  • Evaluate AI-generated responses: Compare and rank outputs based on clinical accuracy, reasoning quality, clarity, safety, and contextual relevance.

  • Assess diagnostic reasoning: Evaluate differential diagnoses, recognition of red flags, and decisions regarding urgent versus routine dental care.

  • Review treatment plans: Assess the consistency between patient history, examination findings, diagnosis, and proposed treatment.

  • Evaluate medication recommendations: Identify prescribing concerns, potential contraindications, medication risks, and inappropriate antibiotic recommendations.

  • Review radiographic interpretation: Assess the reasoning used to interpret dental imaging and determine appropriate clinical next steps.

  • Verify clinical information: Identify unsupported assumptions, inaccurate explanations, missing precautions, and potentially unsafe recommendations.

  • Improve AI reliability: Provide detailed written feedback and identify inaccuracies or potential bias across patient populations and clinical scenarios.

Required Qualifications

  • DDS, DMD, or equivalent dental degree.

  • Active dental licensure or eligibility for licensure in at least one jurisdiction.

  • At least five years of professional clinical dentistry experience in general practice, hospital dentistry, community dentistry, or a dental specialty.

  • Strong clinical reasoning skills, including differential diagnosis, red-flag recognition, and appropriate triage of urgent versus routine cases.

  • Solid understanding of oral disease processes, including dental caries, periodontal disease, endodontic pathology, and oral lesions.

  • Knowledge of dental materials and procedural fundamentals.

  • Exceptional attention to detail when identifying unsafe assumptions, missing contraindications, medication risks, and misinterpreted clinical findings.

  • English proficiency at a minimum C1 level.

  • Ability to assess clinical consistency between history, examination, diagnosis, and treatment recommendations, including appropriateness for emergency departments versus dental clinics.

  • Ability to work independently and maintain consistent quality in a remote contractor workflow across time zones.

Preferred Experience

  • AI data training, annotation, or AI response evaluation.

  • Dental clinical documentation review or peer review.

  • Utilization review.

  • Dental editorial quality assurance.

  • Guideline-based clinical content development.
